| Heidi's Testimony
My
name is Heidi Chamberlin. I was born in Basel, Switzerland, the 11th March
1992. My dad is American and my mom is Swiss. My two brothers and I were
raised in Italy. I come from a Christian family. My dad is a missionary
working with CLC (Christian Literature Center) and my mom is a house wife.
So since I was a little child I used to hear about God and learn to love
Him. When I was younger we used to read the Bible as a family; then I started
reading on my own. I didn't read in the Bible very often, not very regularly.
I used to go to the International Church of Torino with my family. For
me it was like going to church to be meeting friends.
About two years ago, I realized
there was something more than just going to church to meet friends; I wanted
to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I started praying, asking
God for forgiveness and guidance. I came to see that Jesus Christ loves
me and accepts me the way I am, even though I've sinned. He died
for my sin; I should be the one on that cross but He took my place. I started
having hunger to read the Bible to know more about God and having a relationship
with Him; wanting to do His will, and asking Him to guide me so that I
may grow in Him. I told God about my dreams and wishes of my future, and
asked Him to lead me if it's His will, and if not, to please show me the
right way. And my prayers were answered with wide open doors and very quickly.
He made a way for me to go to school in Switzerland. But I know God doesn't
always answer so clearly and quickly.
I am very happy and thankful
to the Lord for everything. I recognise Him as my personal Saviour. I thank
Him for saving me and for everlasting life. I also thank God for my family
and the Church family, who have always showed Jesus' love to me. I ask
God, my Father, to continue guiding me in everything I do; leading me,
as I am trying to decide what I want to do, in what my future life will
be like. Encouraging Bible verses for me are: "I am with you and I will
be with you wherever you go" (Genesis 28:15); "I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have light of
life" (John 8:12). |
