| Prayer & Praise: |
Please pray for Lydia
while she continues working in Germany, and for Gaby and the children here.
Pastor Dyfan is very grateful to so many in the church fellowship for their
sympathy and prayers following the death of his brother last Monday. The
whole family will travel to the UK on Wednesday for the funeral on Friday.
International News: India
The Global Council of Indian
Christians (GCIC) reports on hundreds of cases of anti-Christian violence
recorded so far in 2009 across India: 6 October: five people kidnapped
a Christian pastor in Ludhiana, in the state of Punjab, and took him to
a secluded location where he was beaten and left severely injured; 12 October:
in Karnataka State, two Christian evangelists were attacked when a group
of anti-Christian radicals set upon them, assaulting them and destroying
all the Christian literature they were carrying. Later the attackers handed
the two Christians over to the village leader, who had them arrested for
allegedly trying to convert Hindus in the area. They remain in police custody;
20 September: Christian leader Parishudam was returning home on his motorcycle
when he was forced to stop and was then attacked by two people wearing
masks. They beat him, leaving him bleeding in the street; 18 October: attackers
barged into a Christian worship service and assaulted church leaders, women
and children who were taking part in the service. 25 October: Hindu extremists
assaulted a Christian leader with hockey sticks following a Sunday worship
service in Madhya Pradesh, while in Karnataka 50 Hindu radicals stormed
a service, threatened worshippers and burnt Bibles.
Pray for India's Christians,
that they will stand firm in the face of such relentless pressure and violence
against them. Pray that the resilience displayed by the Christians will
be a testament to their faith and that this will change the hearts of the
extremists who are carrying out the violence.

| Verses for the Week |
| 2 Corinthians 4:16 - Therefore
we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly
we are being renewed day by day.
Galatians 2:20 - I have been
crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The
life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me
and gave himself for me.
John 10:11, 27-28 - Jesus said:
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep…My
sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them
eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of
my hand.”
Romans 8:35-39 - Who shall separate
us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or
famine or nakedness or danger or sword?... No, in all these things we are
more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that
neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present
nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything
else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
